Known as “Personal Sound Amplification Devices,” or by the acronym PSAP, are defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as wearable electronic products that are intended to amplify sounds for people who are not hearing impaired. They are not hearing aids, which the FDA describes as intended to compensate for impaired hearing.     More

There has been a great deal of controversy about PSAPs for a few years now.  Recently the Hearing Loss Association of America has gotten involved and is currently “Strongly Supports Recommendations of PCAST Report”Aging America & Hearing Loss: Imperative of Improved Hearing Technologies.”

Prices can vary from  $150 to $1,000
Intended for mild to moderate hearing loss.
The better ones come come with a t-coil receiver.
